WORSHIP
AND LITURGY QUICK LINKS : THE
QUIET ROOM : BANNERS : EXAMPLES
OF LITURGY
Worship and Liturgy are an integral part of life at Touchstone. House prayers are every Thursday at 12.30pm, the first Thursday in the month is Holy Communion. All are invited to join us in The Quiet Room The liturgy used in prayers and communion was written in-house at Touchstone. Touchstone has an open and welcoming attitude to creativity in worship and it is not unusual to find regular prayers and worship at special celebrations utilising balls of wool, pebbles, images and sung chants - and not necessarily in English... Touchstone also has a history of banner making. The 10 year celebrations were marked by creating a banner and accompanying liturgy for Touchstone. Every Tuesday at 2pm all the staff take part in one hours Theological Reflection. We believe that we are quite unique in dedicating an hour a week to pausing for thought and creativity in this way. This slot evolves according to the needs and suggestions of the team and according to events in the city. In the last couple of years it has included reflecting on the past weeks Telegraph and Argus, hymn writing, writing prayers for use in churches at times of other faiths festivals, even meditations inspired by that weeks extreme weather conditions! Why not view some examples of liturgy created at Touchstone. The weekly University Chaplaincy service (6pm term time only in the Anglican Chaplaincy building) is influenced by the Alternative Worship movement as well as the Anglican Eucharistic tradition and is a source much original worship material in a variety of media.
