Women Breaking Free

A Retreat for Women Survivors of Childhood Abuse

This day retreat offers space for quiet relaxation, conversation and spiritual growth and is for anyone who wishes to explore their journey further.

At the outset we establish ground rules around respect and confidentiality and assure everyone that Touchstone is a safe enough place to relax, reflect and begin to discover new ways of seeing and being.  No one has to disclose any information they don't wish to and if people need their own space they're free to let others know this.  There is plenty of opportunity for creativity using paints, clay etc., and one-to-one listening sessions are available on request with either Barbara, a Methodist minister or Penny, a BACP accredited counsellor,

We also offer 'Play with Words' - a group activity that's about listening to the self through creative writing.  Personal and spiritual material is often expressed in metaphor that speaks of truths about our lives from another deeper reality, and this workshop is designed to help those who take part to put thoughts and feelings into words and fit them together.  The process of writing can be fun! It's not necessary to write good sentences, neither is there any need for participants to read out or show anyone what they've written.  However, it's often through mutual sharing along with feedback from the group that helps individuals to move forward.

Women Breaking Free usually takes place twice yearly and is held on a Saturday.
